Bylaws

Bylaws are the regulations used to govern the business and affairs of our organization. They contain our most basic rules of organizational conduct and establish how we may conduct our business.

Policies

Policies are the rules and regulations that prescribe a guide for action for the OEA. Policies of the Oregon Education Association are established by action of the delegates at the annual OEA Representative Assembly and/or by the OEA Board of Directors. Interim policy may be established by the OEA Board of Directors, to be reviewed and voted upon at the next meeting of the OEA Representative Assembly.

Resolutions

Resolutions are a formal expression of opinion, intent, belief, or position of the Association adopted by the OEA Representative Assembly to provide the direction in which the Association should be moving.

Legislative Objectives

Legislative objectives create the framework for OEA's legislative advocacy, providing overarching legislative goals for staff and members to work towards. Recommendations for changes to the legislative objectives are forwarded to the OEA Representative Assembly by the Legislative Advisory Committee each year for debate and adoption.

The Code of Ethics for the Profession

The desire for the respect and confidence of one's colleagues, of students, of parents and of the members of the community provides the incentive to attain and maintain the highest possible degree of ethical conduct for educators. The Code of Ethics of the Education Profession indicates the aspiration of all educators and provides standards by which to judge conduct.

OEA-PAC Constitution and Bylaws

The OEA-PAC exists to improve public education and educational standards in the state of Oregon by engaging OEA members directly in political action. The OEA-PAC may take no action that is inconsistent with OEA's prescribed bylaws and policies, but may otherwise take the action required to fulfill its purpose. The actions of the OEA-PAC are guided by its constitution and bylaws.
